Counting with Common Cents Program

​​​The Counting with Common Cents children’s book series introduces financial literacy to early elementary school aged children. It teaches important foundational financial literacy concepts. Counting, coin currency, saving, delaying gratification, and money's purpose are concepts that are scaffolded book to book. 

The Counting with Common Cents book series supports early literacy development while simultaneously introducing foundational financial literacy skills in a way that is both engaging and age-appropriate. Through the use of rhyming text, repetition, predictable sentence structures, and vibrant illustrations, the series reinforces key reading strategies such as phonemic awareness, print tracking, and vocabulary acquisition.
